Classroom Monitor

The Influence1 Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was organized exclusively for purposes to include educational management, community engagement and economic development. Initiated as a philanthropic measure of its founder, Influence1 has grown to serve the local community in multiple capacities with varying programs geared for community and youth enrichment.

In addition to its charter schools, City University School of Liberal Arts, City University School Girls Preparatory and City University School of Independence. Influence1 is also responsible for the 38106 Joint Agency Collaborative, 1Urban Gallery, and the Memphis Starts With Me© community program.

 

City University Schools

City University Schools is a network of open-enrollment college preparatory schools established under Tennessee charter school laws in under-resourced communities throughout the state. Since its founding in 2004, City University Schools strives to meet the need of public education as well as the demand for alternative institutions committed to post-secondary preparation.  Each school operates on the principles of providing a valuable, well-rounded academic experience through the support of a diverse and dedicated group of qualified educators and administrative staff, an extended school year and rigorous college preparatory curriculum.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree required, teaching certification preferred.

Classroom Monitor (Temporary Position)

The‌ ‌Classroom‌ ‌Monitor‌ ‌is‌ ‌a‌ ‌temporary‌ ‌position‌ ‌that‌ ‌supports‌ ‌and‌ ‌supervises‌‌ ‌‌scholars‌ ‌on‌ ‌
campus‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌classroom‌ ‌while‌ ‌their‌ ‌professors ‌lead‌ ‌instruction‌ ‌virtually.‌ ‌ Classroom‌ ‌Monitors‌ ‌
will‌ ‌be‌ ‌directed‌ ‌by‌ ‌the‌ ‌classroom‌ ‌professor,‌ ‌provide‌ ‌guidance‌ ‌and‌ ‌assistance‌ ‌to‌ ‌scholars‌ ‌to‌ ‌
keep‌ ‌them‌ ‌on‌ ‌task,‌ ‌ensure‌ ‌scholar‌ ‌safety,‌ ‌and‌ ‌communicate‌ ‌with‌ ‌families‌ ‌and‌ ‌staff‌ ‌as‌ ‌
necessary.‌ ‌ Classroom‌ ‌Monitors‌ ‌will‌ ‌work‌ ‌as‌ ‌needed‌ ‌Monday‌ ‌through‌ ‌Friday‌ ‌between‌ ‌the‌ ‌
hours‌ ‌of‌ ‌7:30 ‌AM‌ ‌to‌ ‌3:45‌ ‌PM.‌ ‌Actual‌ ‌shift‌ ‌hours‌ ‌may‌ ‌vary‌ ‌within‌ ‌the‌ ‌school‌ ‌day,‌ ‌depending‌ ‌
on‌ ‌the‌ ‌needs.‌ ‌‌This‌ ‌position‌ ‌reports‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ Dean of Scholars.‌ ‌ ‌

DUTIES‌ ‌AND‌ ‌RESPONSIBILITIES‌ ‌

  • Supervise assigned groups of scholars on-site,
  • Follow and enforce health and safety requirements and protocols including scholars mask use and social distancing,
  • Is present and engaged during class sessions,
  • Maintain accurate attendance reporting to office secretaries,
  • Maintain the classroom environment to stay respectful and conducive to learning: confer with the scholars individually or in small groups to modify unacceptable behavior and emphasizes positive problem-solving skills,
  • Manage all technology needs to ensure scholars have what they need to fully participate in daily lessons provided by Professors,
  • Provide technical assistance to scholars while they are engaged in virtual instruction,
  • Communicate with direct supervisor regarding any incidents which occurred while on duty,
  • Correspond with and work effectively with professor and staff on instruction and classroom management,
  • Contact administrative staff immediately in the case of an emergency or dangerous situation,
  • Arrive promptly for shifts and assist in the set up and clean -up of each area as assigned
  • Assist injured or sick scholars to the Care Center as needed,
  • Notify professors, office staff, and supervisor of their absence at least 24 hours in advance,
  • In the case an emergency occurs, at a minimum contact your direct supervisors to inform them of an absence,
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Candidate must attend an orientation/training session.
  • Candidate must agree to authorize The Influence1 Foundation to conduct a Criminal History Search/fingerprinting.
  • Candidate must possess good moral character.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 30 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds may be required. Other physical activities may be required. Occasional travel with scholars on field trips may be necessary. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards. Occasional movement of scholars by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Daily personal and close contact with scholars to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required on assigned days. Regular contact with other staff members and building administrator(s) is required on assigned days as a classroom monitor.
