Academic Interventionist

Blytheville School District

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Work with small groups of children identified as at-risk in assigned core subject. Work closely with instructional support coaches, campus administration and faculty, as well as parents, to ensure student learning and academic success.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid AR Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s)
  • Superior communication skills oral and written.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of content area and instructional strategies.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with both students and teachers.  
  • Possesses professional verification of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Evidence of the willingness to comply with state standards for ethical and professional performance.

Reports to: Building Principal

Work Schedule: 190 Day Contract

 

Responsibilities

  • Develops their student’s cognitive capacity and respect for learning.
  • Fosters a positive self esteem.  
  • Understands, encourages, and appreciates diversity and inclusion in the student population.
  • Successfully implements technology into the curriculum. 
  • Plans and implements learning processes that help students achieve program objectives.
  • Maintaining a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Implements useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures.
  • Successfully selects and uses effective instructional methods and learning materials.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with students,  teachers, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Engages in professional learning through an ongoing program of knowledge and skill development.
  • Works collaboratively to achieve the overall purpose of the school’s program.
  • Assesses children throughout the school and identifies those at risk.
  • Designs and implements academic interventions using research-based methodology.
  • Communicates with school personnel and parents of children regarding reading and/or math level and rate of progress. 
  • Gathers, compiles, and disaggregates data and then links that data to student learning and instruction.
  • Differentiates instruction based on assessment data.
  • Documents interventions and progress on each child.
  • Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and shows written evidence of preparation as required.  
  • Presents subject matter according to guidelines established by the Arkansas Department of Education, board policies, and administrative regulations.  
  • Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects a thorough understanding of student learning.
